Activate Remote Help

Enter your 6-digit code:
  • A file called Support-LogMeInRescue will ask to download onto your desktop. Allow it.
  • If your browser gives you options to either Run or Save, please Run it.
  • A chat window will popup. This box will be available so we can talk to each other during the job
  • If you are running Vista or Windows 7 a popup may appear which says:
"User Account Control (UAC) is enabled on this PC. Please click OK to allow Rescue to elevate your session."
    Click OK
  • After a few seconds we will request remote control which means that a big warning popup will appear.
  • Read through the warning and if you are happy with what it says, click OK. We will then be able to work on your computer.

Fixing Your Computer Over The Internet

Finch Computers is now able to offer many services over the internet. This means that you no longer have to bring your computer to our office for issues such as:

  • Virus or spyware infection where internet access is possible either in normal mode or in Safe Mode with networking
  • Your computer is running slowly and you think it needs a good tuneup
  • You can no longer send or receive emails
  • You can no longer print to your network printer
  • Diagnosis of problems including random blue screen errors as long as internet connection is still possible
  • Lots of other issues not requiring the repair, replacement or upgrade of physical components

How It Works

Contact us either by phone (0118 979 3490) or email (adam@finchcomputers.co.uk) and let us know what is wrong with your computer. If a fix over the internet seems appropriate we will give you an estimate as to how long we think the job will take and quote you a price for the job. If you are happy with that we will either begin work immediately or arrange a convenient day and time to work on your computer and will call you back at the arranged time.

The following steps will be taken to do the job:

  • We will give you a 6 digit pin code that you enter in the box on the left and click "Connect to Technician".
  • Follow the instructions under the "Connect to Technician" button. These will only take a couple of minutes and we can talk you through them over the phone.
  • We will offer to install a "Calling Card" on your computer which will enable you to connect to a technician without the need for another six digit code. This is useful if the session is disconnected or if you require help sometime in the future.
  • We will then proceed with the tasks that you requested.
  • Once the job is completed you can then delete the LogMeIn Rescue icon on your desktop. This will ensure that we cannot take control of your computer again without your permission.

Prices

Diagnosis Charge £10
Tuneup not involving virus removal £40
Tuneup involving Virus Removal £65

Payment

If you are a new or geographically remote customer, before any work is done we will take your credit card details over the phone to validate your card details but we will not charge you at this time. At the end of the job we will take your credit card details again and charge you for the job. You will subsequently receive your card payment slip together with an invoice in the mail.

If you are a local pre-existing customer, you can pay by card over the phone or we can invoice you by email at the end of the job. If you pay by card your card payment slip will be mailed to you with an invoice.

Area Supported

The main advantage to you with this service is that you save time and money by not having to bring your computer into an office or workshop, or wait in for a technician to visit you. This also means that there is no geographical limit to the area that we can support. So whether you are in Wokingham or Aukland, New Zealand, as long as you can speak and understand English and have a debit or credit card we can fix your computer over the internet.

Is It Safe?

All data sent between your computer and ours using LogMeIn Rescue is encrypted using a 256 bit algorythm which would take longer than the age of the universe to crack.
