Do I have a virus?

There are a lot of different types of viruses and spyware programs. It is possible that your system has been infected if it exhibits one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Big, never before seen popup apparently runs virus scan finds lots of scary viruses, trojans, etc then demands money to clean
  • PC is running very slowly
  • Internet Explorer is taking a long time to open pages, even for pages you've been to lots of times before with no problems
  • Can't connect to the internet any more
  • Popup ads appearing
  • Warning popups appearing in the lower right corner of the screen
  • Programs crash unexpectedly
  • Can't open MS Office documents
  • Change in way computer behaves

It is possible that these symptoms can be caused by other problems, such as the failure of hardware within the PC, or hard drive corruption.

But I already have anti-virus programs running!

Recently virus writers have started creating pseudo-legitimate businesses in proper business parks mainly within Eastern Europe which churn out very sophisticated viruses which are able to circumvent the main commercial antivirus programs. If your antivirus program is unable to permanently remove viruses on your computer please contact us on 0118 979 3490 as soon as you can. It is essential that a virus is dealt with as soon as its presence is suspected. A very common type of virus is called a Trojan. This appears harmless at first, but every time you connect to the internet this virus will cause multiple other viruses to download onto your computer. The worst example of this kind of infection that I have seen consisted of at least 6000 viruses. This happened because the customer ignored the symptoms for 18 months. There was no choice but to recommend a complete reformat and reinstallation. All important data was lost.
